From April to September 2009 the Kunstmuseum Basel is staging a comprehensive exhibition of Vincent van Gogh’s landscape paintings. 70 paintings – both world famous key works as well as paintings scarcely known to the general public – open up a completely new approach to van Gogh’s art.

Texetera’s audio guide forms the sound track, as it were, to this visual world. With it, you can immerse yourself in van Gogh’s life and work – a fascinating mixture of passion and loneliness.

To the accompaniment of music and sound effects, the audio guide tells you about the intensity of his bohemian life in Paris, the reaping of his creative harvest in Provence and the depression of the last phase in northern France. You will learn why mills exercised a great fascination on van Gogh, why he liked to paint cypresses and olive trees and how he managed to protect himself from the strong mistral wind as he worked.
